Me, Pandora and upping the attitude

People often give me the following compliment: "Elke, I trust you because you are real/authentic/always yourself." I love that, yet I have to admit that the "real" or "authentic" or "always myself" me also includes being cranky/scared/sad--in other words, not always positive.

And so it is that in the few weeks since our challenge to find a new home by late April, I have had multiple meltdowns and crying spells of the snotty and messy kind. Yes. That would be the authentic me.

Today, despite my best efforts, as I was taking care of business in my lovely office, I started to cry in grief over losing this space. Started. A few tears fell and then I got up, walked into the living room, sat on the sofa next to hubby, and lit a large candle on the coffee table. We held hands and restated our desires for a new home: warm, bright, great office for me, in the walking zone, easily affordable....

And then I put on my favorite shoes and put in the earbuds and went for a dance-walk. I found my "Happy Station" on Pandora, and walked my favorite route. And I danced...a lot. On the waterfront, in the neighborhoods, when the inspiration hit. I didn't care if people saw me or not, but if they did, I winked and smiled at them.

Here's the magical part of these dance-walks: Pandora seems to tune into what I need, and today was no different--My Happy Station started things off with Home by Phillip Phillips: "Settle down, it'll all be clear. Pay no mind to the demons, they fill you with fear....Know you're not alone. 'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home." Perfect. Followed by Shut Up and Dance (Ok then!) and... Haven't Met You Yet (No, but its imminent.) Happy (Of course.) Come Get it Bae (I will!) Despicable Me (I am so silly when I'm mad.) Try Everything (Yes I will!) and Carry On (Always.)

You get the drift. Everything looked brighter as I went along. And now that I'm home, it's time to get stuff done, including... Getting ready for our new home: Fill large bags with giveaways for the thrift shops. Pack up what we can. And celebrate the miracle, right now.

Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts. You're the best, Elke

PS: Activities in March include specials on aura portraits and sessions, as well as a Healing and Intention Drum group on my birthday! Read all about it here on the activities page: https://elkespage.com/education/
