Go ahead and expect the unexpected

Updated: Dec 22, 2022

Go ahead and expect the unexpected. Really. You'll be better off for it. Mind you, you can make long and short term plans--a person has to have some sort of plan, right? But more often than not, at least for me and a number of buddies, the plans may or may not pan out. There seems to be an underlying river of change that is coursing through our lives, and far be it for me to try to figure out where the river might be going. Believe me, I've tried, but just when I think I have a handle on THE Plan, this mysterious river takes a drastic turn in another direction, and whoosh! My best laid plans swim away.

The little lovebirds up there are ravens, birds considered tricksters in some Native lore, and I love 'em for that. The Trickster is that element of surprise or synchronicity, or "lets stir things up," and s/he keeps us on our toes. Letting go to sudden turns, rather than holding on to my old "normal" life has helped me dance through my recent life's turns with some sort of grace--or at least humor. Which is why every time I hear a raven caw, I always smile, and maybe laugh and caw out as well.

Recent event of my bran concussion has turned my life on its head again, so to speak. Instead of rushing through this healing, though, my brain would not allow it: It even relapsed me into garbling and stuttering again a few days ago. I think it was telling me to "BE QUIET. Be. There are new things afoot--and maybe a-wing. So I listened for a change, ( to the quiet, I know, right? ) and tried my very best to go slowly, taking it one day a time.

Today I feel a new energy, and while I don't want to push it, I want to celebrate somehow. So tonight I am taking honey to a African Marimba concert and dance at a local college, As much as my sweetie claims he cannot dance, the rhythmic thrum of the marimba is something everyone can move to.

As well, "(gently) Dance!" seems to be an order from the Universe. Unbeknownst to my colleague Laura, owner of our wonderful Center for Happiness, the local newspaper somehow put in their weekly events magazine that there is to be a Full Moon Happiness Dance this Sunday (see details below). Now, I didn't know about this either, because there was SUPPOSED to be a nine day Yoga Training at the Center...which canceled only a few days ago. So, if you are in the Puget Sound area and want to dance your heart out, come ahead, and bring the family. I'll bring the music and cookies--at least that's the plan for now.

Otherwise, there is a one day healing retreat at the end of March, and 2 New Moon celebrations in-between, as well as....

Jim Macartney's 2nd Re-birthday is February 23rd. On that day 2 years ago, he died of cardiac arrest and decided to come back to us. Which brings me to Ravens in Love: the one cawing away is me, singing my love song for him, as he sits and heals his heart and brain. I'm so gad for this turn of the river.

Be at peace, and let it flow, Elke

Activities.....for now:
