Where the rubber meets the road of life...

It's finally here: a little memoir called Notes from the Road of Life is now live on Kindle. Over two years ago, Jim and I were facing possible foreclosure and financial ruin, and made a rather strange, Spirit-led choice to do something about The Situation: Rent out our home of 20 years, get rid of just about everything, and go on a road trip of discovery. Our intent was to find our true community: affordable, supportive, and somewhere we could thrive and not just survive. We logged over 12,000 miles. We made friends we could not have made any other way. We cried tears of release, grief and joy. We experienced incredible adventure.

And that was just the first half of the journey. In 2012, my love died of a cardiac arrest and came back to life only to suffer a catastrophic stroke and come back to us again, forever changed. That journey of healing is documented in Part 2 of the book, aptly entitled The Unexpected Year. Last night, I re-read all of these thoughts and adventures and dramas and comedies and thought: Wow. That lady didn't see any of this coming, did she? No indeed. But she stayed in the moment the whole way through, asked for and received support when needed, and did her best to stay in integrity. I am proud of her. So, if you'd like, go to Amazon.com and borrow (yep you can!) or buy the book for Kindle. You can download a Kindle reader for just about any e-reader or laptop or phone, by the way. I chose Kindle, because people in other countries will have access to buy the book in their denominations: Germany, Brazil, Great Britain, India to name a few. I have plans to publish a paper-bound book in the future, as soon as I can figure out an economic way to do so (because of the pictures involved, it's too costly for now, but don't worry--I'll figure it out.) Meanwhile, I am so grateful for the world-wide reach! My gratitude to all who've been there for us in this Journey of a lifetime. To friends we made or re-connected with on this road, including Lara Feltin, Sarah Kailin and family, Nancy Ashmead, Samantha Freeman, Leslie Mo, Kathleen Wildwood, Sharon Smith, Ellen Whiteside, David and Devan Jones, Chaplain Fleming Otey, Penny Calcina, Eben and Holley Alexander and family, Bob VandeCastle, Terry Beavers, Janet Ott, Judyth and Larry Sult, June Keszeg, Shakti Chionis, Valerie Kraft- Kovacs, Janet Hickox, and so many more. Thanks be to my wonderful family; sons Ryan, Eron, and Anne Macartney Brooks and family, John and Laurie Macartney, Waldemar and Doris Siller, Ingeborg Siller, and of course, my co-journeyer for life, James W Macartney. Thank you, thank you thank you!!!!!
